Starting in 2025, Lucky Lizard Journal is running a biannual poetry contest. There will be three winners: first place and two runners-up. Each will be published in the corresponding biannual issue. Winners will be announced with the publication of the issue, not notified via email, so CHECK THE RELEVANT ISSUE TO SEE IF YOUR WORK WON.

The contest has a theme that changes with each issue. These will be announced in June and December.

The submission schedule for the contest follows the SAME EXACT submission schedule for general submissions. Follow instructions PRECISELY.

If you submitted work for general submissions, you may submit ONLY ONE contest submission. Otherwise, you are free to submit as many times as you like. I will be checking this diligently and your submission will be deleted if you do not follow the rules. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS.

Each submission costs $10 and includes ONE poem. You can submit as many times as you like. Pay using the form below and then send the contest submission(s) as an email to the journal email with an image of the receipt. Or if there is a code, just include the transaction code. Include ‘CONTEST’ in the header of the submission email. Thank you!
